INTRODUCTION

Yayasan Pencegahan Jenayah Malaysia or the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) – Selangor Chapter. is a non-government, non-profit organisation established on 11 January 1993. MCPF is a Chapter of the Asia Crime Prevention Foundation, which is based in Tokyo, Japan and is the first Chapter to be established outside Japan.

The launching of the Foundation was officiated by former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was also the Patron of MCPF then. The current Patron is Dato Sri Najib Razak. the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The Chairman is Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister, while the Deputy Chairman is Tan Sri Ismail Omar, the Inspector-General of Police. In addition to the Chairman and his Deputy. there are 26 members in the Executive Council of MCPF, which is the highest body in MCPF. These members are prominent figures from both the public and private sectors.

OBJECTIVE

One of the key objectives of MCPF is to contribute to the enhancement of effective measures for crime prevention and the treatment of the offenders by way of survey, research and other programmes on the basis of solidarity and mutual cooperation among persons involved in countries of the Asian region, thus pursuing the ultimate goal of places and stability in the region.

The Foundation will also promote public awareness of, and participate in, crime prevention efforts in tandem with the coordinated efforts of government and private organisations interested or involved in crime prevention and the criminal justice system.

The Foundation shall receive and administer all funds for the fulfilment of the above objectives for the benefit of all Malaysians irrespective of race, creed and religion. Through these objectives, the Foundation aims to contribute towards creating peace, stability and zero-crime level in Malaysia.
